Has anyone had varicose veins cauterized or stripped.?

I had a varicose vein rupture in my leg. Still waiting for the results of the venous insufficiency study to come back. The Dr. talked about cauterizing or stripping veins, as I have more varicose in the same leg. Anyone had this done, if so what was your expierence with the procedure.
